Georgia
The Cradle of Wine

Eight thousand years ago our ancestors, who were some of the first inhabitants of the earth, cultivated wild vines, compressed grapes, and fermented wine.  They showed a great belief in kindness and built prayer-houses where they drank the most precious wine as a part of sacrificial rituals.  Since then they  spread the word "Wine" all over the world.  This was the very beginning of Georgia's self-expression.  Georgian became explicator's of national consciousness.  They assisted others in the creation of benevolence and actively contributed to the development of spiritual kindness.  This was the Georgian way of life.  Bread and wine are the essence of human beings.

Georgia is known as one of the ancient creators of cultivated varieties of vines.  Over 500 grape varieties of local origin and over 100 varieties of wild grapes are presented on this small territory of Earth.  There is hardly any other country in the world where one can encounter such a great variety of vines.  Varieties of grapes are endemic to the area.  Vine varieties are presented in the main ethnic regions of their origin including:
